Free JAMB CBT practice

JAMB gives you 180 questions in 2 hours — 60 in English Language and 40 in each of your other three subjects. That works out at about 40 seconds a question, and the clock does not stop.

Every test below runs on the same controls you meet at the CBT centre: Next, Previous, flag a question for review, jump straight to any number, and a countdown that tells you where you stand. Finish and you get the correct answer and a worked explanation for every question you missed.

Format figures on this page are as of the 2026 exam cycle. Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board revises them — check your own timetable and the Council's notices before exam day.

JAMB CBT — the questions candidates ask

How many questions are in the JAMB UTME?
180 questions across four subjects in 2 hours: 60 in English Language and 40 in each of your other three. That is the format as of the 2026 cycle — confirm it on jamb.gov.ng before your exam, because JAMB has changed subject question counts before.
How long do I get per JAMB question?
About 40 seconds on average. Candidates who run out of time are usually not slow readers — they are answering questions in the order the software gives them instead of sweeping the easy ones first. Practise the sweep here with the timer running.
Can I go back to a question in JAMB CBT?
Yes. The real software has Next and Previous buttons and a numbered question palette, and you can flag any question to revisit before you submit. Nothing is locked until you submit or the timer hits zero.
Can I take a calculator into the JAMB hall?
No. Personal calculators, phones, and written material are not allowed at the CBT centre. Work the arithmetic by hand when you practise, and confirm with JAMB what the current software provides on screen for your subject.
Is this the real JAMB software?
No. This is an independent practice simulator built to match the layout and controls, so nothing on the real screen is new to you. We are not JAMB and JAMB does not endorse us.
